The Fediverse Linux Users Group (FediLUG) is a Linux user group focused on the “neighborhood” of the internet known as the Fediverse.
Members who participated in the Tokaido Linux User Group wanted to create a LUG in the Fediverse under the same concept, so the group was founded in Japan in December 2023. We carry forward the concept of Koedo LUG—“a salon for sharing as much enjoyable time through Linux as possible” (Koedo LUG website)—which Tokaido LUG inherited before us.
Our events are mainly attended by beginners who entered Linux or OSS through Fediverse server administration and by Fediverse enthusiasts of Linux and OSS, and we operate for everyone from newcomers to veterans with the goal of sharing enjoyable time through Linux and open software.
As part of our activities, we host study meetings where participants share slides and results to deepen their knowledge, as well as coworking sessions where everyone focuses on their own tasks.
Most events are held online. There are no specific requirements to participate, so please feel free to join us.
We respect every software choice participants make and do not restrict membership based on the software they use.
Other groups may use the same name “FediLUG” or “Fediverse Linux Users Group” or the same logo, but they are not affiliated with us. The official platforms for this FediLUG are listed below.
The organizing team mainly operates in Japanese, but we welcome events such as “FediLUG” study sessions held in other languages under the same concept.
If you would like to indicate an affiliation with our group, please contact the organizers and we will list you on this website as a sister LUG.

FediLUG was originally started by members who participated in Tokaido LUG activities.
Since openSUSE.Asia Summit 2024, we have been recognized as a sister LUG of Tokaido LUG.
For pleasant event operations, FediLUG enforces an anti-harassment policy. The following behavior is prohibited at FediLUG events.
You can download the FediLUG logo. It is licensed under CC BY-NC 4.0 and may be used freely within that scope.
The penguin in the logo is modeled after a chick, symbolizing that FediLUG warmly welcomes beginners and newcomers to the Fediverse, Linux, and open-source software.
Because penguins (TUX) used as Linux motifs are often adults, we deliberately chose a chick instead.
The four colored bands around the logo represent a slice of the Fediverse logo (provisional), expressing that we are part of the Fediverse community.
If you use this logo to represent our LUG, please observe the following guidelines.
